Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer
Today I wanted to talk to you about the Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer from Marc Jacobs. So I have to admit, the only thing that really got me interested at the start was that its’ main ingredient is coconut - I swear by the stuff! Then whilst researching the primer before I owned it, I found out that Marcs’ love for coconut was his main inspiration for creating this. So as you can probably guess, I was sold before I’d even tried it.
This primer is said to be perfect for normal to dry skin types, so at first that put me off a little! Usually I look for mattifying, silicone based primers. Just because I have combination skin, so I really don’t need any extra glow. But for some reason I still felt like I had to try it. So I managed to finally swatch it in John Lewis a few weeks ago and there was something about the way it felt that spoke to me. I used some on the back of my hand andlet it dry for about 5 minutes. It made my skin feel so smooth and silky, that I just fell in love instantly - dramatic I know!
So I’ve been testing it out for the past 2 weeks now and let me tell you it’s quickly become my new favourite primer. Here’s a little on my thoughts, firstly you only need the smallest amount - one pump and that will cover your whole face. As soon as it’s applied, I immediately feel refreshed and hydrated for a few reasons. The scent is very tropical-like and obviously has a hint of coconut, but nothing too overpowering. Also it’s quite cold when applied to the skin, so again a real refreshing feeling. It then takes about 5 minutes to fully set, but while I wait I fill in my eyebrows. So the time isn’t a problem for me.
Then once the primer’s dry my skin feels beautiful. The formula is so lightweight too, allowing my skin to feel super breathable if that makes sense haha. This unique primer blend also has 5 different forms of coconut, so I feel like it’s a skin treatment too. This nutrient-filled formula definitely sold it to me even more. If you think about it, a primer has the most contact with your skin for the longest amount of time. So you really want to use healthy ingredients that have direct contact with your face.
Now, I definitely understand why this is marketed for more normal to dry skin types. But it somehow works for me really well, especially in these colder months when I need that extra hydration. It also extends my make-up beautifully, keeping it pretty much perfect all day. As well, it gives my skin radiance before I apply any make-up. I think this is what I love about it the most, as hydrated skin is always the perfect base for make-up to look flawless. If any of you guys have tried this primer, I’d love to know your thoughts. Also I’m really interested to know what your favourite primer is as well!
